HEALTH HAZARDS

ACUTE: Corrosive to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Toxic if swallowed.

CHRONIC: Kidney and liver damage possible. Contains morpholine.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Skin irritation develops slowly after contact, eye irritation develops immediately upon contact.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Breathing disorders, dermatitis.

FIRST AID PROCEDURES

EYE CONTACT: Flush eyes with water 15 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms develop and persist.

SKIN CONTACT: Flush with water or soap and water for 15 minutes or until all traces have been removed. Get medical attention if symptoms develop and persist.

INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth out with water. Get immediate medical attention.

 

INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air and, if needed, immediately begin artificial respiration. Give oxygen if breathing is labored. Get emergency medical help. Contact physician immediately.

 


SECTION VII, PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

 

SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES: Emergency response coordinator must have mandated training. Eliminate all ignition sources.  SMALL SPILLS:  Pick up with absorbent materials and place in non-leaking containers; seal tightly for proper disposal or reuse.  LARGE SPILLS:  Evacuate the hazard area of unprotected personnel.  Wear appropriate respirator and protective clothing.  Shut off source of leak if safe to do so.  Dike and contain.  Remove with vacuum trucks or pump to storage/salvage vessels.

 

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE: Store away from acid materials, and oxidizers

 

OTHER PRECAUTIONS: Clean up leaks immediately to prevent soil or water contamination.
